Orthodontic Expertise in Beckley & Summersville

Making great smiles is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to exceptional orthodontic care. Our goal is to make your time in treatment as fun, convenient, and life changing as possible. Brett Eckley, DDS

Dr. Brett joined his father, Dr. Edward Eckley, in June 2004. Dr. Brett was born and raised in the Beckley area and attended local schools.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Hampden-Sydney College. After earning his DDS from West Virginia University, Dr. Brett stayed in Morgantown and completed his Masters of Science in Orthodontics at WVU. Dr. Brett had a stellar academic career both in college and dental school and he received multiple awards including Dean’s Lists in college and dental school, All Academic Old Dominion Athletic Conference, the American Student Dental Association Award of Excellence, the Oral Biology Award, and many others.

In addition to his busy work schedule, Dr. Brett maintains a rigorous commitment to continuing education and learning. Every year, Dr. Brett attends multiple orthodontic and dental courses all around the country to provide the best clinical care for his patients. He also is very active in local charities and has served on multiple boards locally and throughout the state. Dr. Brett believes in giving back and that making the world a better place should be a mission in every professional’s life.

Dr. Brett and his wife Melanie have two children, two dogs, and a cat. When they aren’t attending a sporting event or volunteering at a local charity event, they can often be found enjoying any of the various outdoor activities that southern West Virginia has to offer. The Eckley family also attends church locally.

Edward Eckley, DDS

Dr. Eckley began his orthodontic practice in Beckley in 1974. He has since opened offices in Oak Hill, Summersville and Pineville to better serve patients. He is a native to Huntington, West Virginia and attended Marshall University.

Dr. Edward Eckley earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from West Virginia University. While in dental school, he was awarded a Board of Governor’s scholarship and the Senior Award in Dental Radiology. Dr. Eckley completed his orthodontic training at WVU with a Master of Science degree in Orthodontics, which required original research and a thesis.

Having served a three-year tour of duty as an Army dentist, Dr. Eckley was awarded three Bronze stars, the Vietnam Air Medal, the Vietnam Army Commendation Medal, and a Certificate of Appreciation in Dentistry from the United States Army.

Dr. Eckley is certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and is a member of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics. The American Board of Orthodontics is recognized by the American Dental Association as the only certifying Board in the specialty of orthodontics. Nationally, only 20% of orthodontists have achieved this distinction. Moreover, he is a forensic dentist, having served during Katrina.

Edward Eckley, DDS
